Thanks to being made up of 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel, this general-purpose steel alloy displays great oxidation resistance when used in temperatures up to 1,600°F. Easy to weld or form, it also shows high resistance to corrosion and heat and will react well to hardening by cold working. This 304 stainless steel meets ASTM A276 specifications.
