304 stainless steel is a general-purpose steel alloy that is easy to form or weld. Made up of 8 percent nickel and 18 percent chromium, it demonstrates incredibly good oxidation resistance when exposed to temperatures up to 1,600°F. It also responds well to hardening by cold working, due to its high resistance to corrosion and heat. This 304 stainless steel meets ASTM A276 specifications.
